Lose the Sale

If there is one character trait that is most universally despised it is that of the snooty car salesman. Now, this does not apply to all of them of course, but you know who you are!!

You can picture the scene. A car buyer goes into the forecourt to look at new cars. But horror of horror, he may be wearing jeans or scruffy clothes and probably looks like he doesn't have two pennies to rub together.

Cue the snooty salesman. He manages to be obsequious while at the same time giving the impression that he is painfully removing something nasty from his shoe. He clearly thinks you have no money and is resentful of the fact that you are depriving him of reading his daily newspaper. Everything he says is designed to get rid of you as quickly as possible.

The potential buyer, who is often actually loaded with cash, cottons on quite quickly, and with this goes any desire to make any purchase from the garage however much he wants that car.

Result - a lost sale. Mr Snooty rarely ever finds out that he has lost the sale and puts the buyers hasty departure down to the fact that he has frightened him off with the price tag. And the buyer will go into a more welcoming dealership to buy the car he wants. Everyone is happy apart from the snooty car salesman.
